What Does Dr. Squatch Rainforest Mist Smell Like?
Rainforest Mist is the most green and tropical option in the Dr. Squatch cologne lineup. It opens with a leafy, dewy green note mixed with citrus — think lime peel and crushed green leaves. There's a light floral element in the heart, maybe something jasmine-adjacent, and a watery, humid quality that does actually remind you of walking through a tropical forest.
The mid section has this vegetal, almost herbal quality that sets it apart from the other Squatch scents. It's not minty or icy like Glacial Falls — it's warmer and more organic-feeling. The dry down is a soft musk and woody base, light and clean.
Of the four Dr. Squatch colognes, this one is probably the most interesting. It has more going on and it doesn't smell like it's trying to be another designer clone.
How Does Rainforest Mist Perform?
Pretty much identical to the rest of the lineup — moderate at best.
- Longevity: 4-5 hours
- Projection: Close to moderate for the first 1-2 hours
- Sillage: Light, intimate wear
Reapplication is going to be necessary if you're wearing this for more than a few hours.
When Should You Wear Rainforest Mist?
Spring and summer are where this shines. It's a great daytime scent for warm weather — think outdoor lunches, beach walks, or just running errands when it's warm out. It's fresh without being cold, green without being bitter. More versatile than Fireside Bourbon and more interesting than Glacial Falls.
The Real Downsides
- The green notes can smell "soapy" on some skin. It depends on your chemistry, but there's a risk of this smelling like a bar of soap rather than a tropical forest.
- Performance is still the weak link. 4-5 hours with light projection is the story of every Squatch cologne, and it gets old.
- Price-to-performance ratio is off. For around $60, there are way better green/fresh fragrances out there — Versace Pour Homme, D&G Light Blue, even some Zara stuff.
- Might be too "green" for some. If you're not into leafy, herbal scents, this could smell like a salad to you.
Should You Buy or Skip Rainforest Mist?
Buy if this is the Dr. Squatch scent that appeals to you most and you're committed to the brand. It's the most well-rounded of the bunch and has the most character.
Skip if you have access to literally any mid-range green/fresh fragrance. You'll get better quality and performance for the same money or less.
Rating: 6/10
The best of the Dr. Squatch colognes in my opinion, but that bar is not particularly high. It's a 6 — decent, slightly above average, but not something that'll make your collection better if you already have a good fresh green scent.
