What Does Hawas Ice Smell Like?
Rasasi has been milking the Hawas line for all it's worth, and honestly? Ice might be one of the better flankers to come out of it. As the name suggests, this is the cold, icy, fresh version of the original Hawas — and it does exactly what you'd expect.
The opening is a rush of cold citrus and mint. Think frozen lemon peel mixed with a cooling menthol-type freshness. It's the kind of spray that makes you go "oh, that's nice" on a hot day. There's a green apple note in there too that adds a little sweetness to cut through all the ice.
The middle brings in some aquatic notes and a subtle ozonic freshness that keeps the cold theme going. It's not as complex as the original Hawas here — it trades depth for pure refreshment. There's a watery, slightly metallic quality that some people love and others find flat.
The base dries down to a clean musk, light woods, and a barely-there ambroxan-type warmth. It's subtle and skin-hugging, which is pretty standard for this type of fresh fragrance.
Performance Numbers
- Longevity: 5-7 hours depending on heat and humidity
- Projection: Moderate for the first hour, then close
- Sillage: Light — this is a personal scent zone fragrance
Performance is decent but not remarkable. For a Hawas flanker, you'd expect a bit more projection. The original Hawas was known for being a projecting beast, and Ice just doesn't hit the same way in that department.
Best Times to Wear Hawas Ice
- Summer — this was literally made for heat
- Spring daytime — works perfectly
- Gym and active wear — refreshing and clean
- Office in warm months — totally inoffensive
- Beach days and outdoor activities
This is purely a warm weather fragrance. Wearing it in winter would be pointless — it barely registers in cold air.
What's Wrong With It?
- It's basic. There's really nothing about Hawas Ice that you haven't smelled before. Frozen citrus + aquatic + clean musk is one of the most common fragrance profiles out there.
- Performance drops in AC. Ironically, the fragrance made for heat performs worse when you're in air conditioning. It just goes silent on the skin.
- The dry down is boring. Once the icy opening fades (about 90 minutes in), you're left with a very generic clean-skin scent that doesn't have much personality.
- It doesn't have the original's DNA. If you love Hawas for its fruity-sweet character, Ice is a completely different animal. The connection between the two is mostly just the name.
Buy or Skip?
Buy if: You need a cheap, refreshing summer beater. You want something for the gym or outdoor activities that smells clean. You live in a hot climate and need something that doesn't go heavy in the heat.
Skip if: You already own any decent fresh/aquatic fragrance. You want the performance of the original Hawas. You're looking for something with depth or complexity.
Rating: 5.5/10
Hawas Ice is fine. It smells pleasant, it's refreshing, and it's cheap. But "fine" is about as far as the compliments go. In a world where Versace Pour Homme and Nautica Voyage exist at similar price points with more character, Ice struggles to justify its spot in a collection. It's a perfectly acceptable summer beater and nothing more.
