Louis Vuitton Stellar Times Extrait Review — The $1,000 Fragrance That Actually Earns It

Louis Vuitton Stellar Times Extrait

Let me be upfront with you — when someone tells me a fragrance costs over $1,000, my default reaction is "yeah, no." Because most of the time, you're paying for the name, the bottle, or the marketing. Not the juice.

But Stellar Times by Louis Vuitton is genuinely one of those rare exceptions where the scent itself does something that cheaper fragrances simply cannot replicate. Is it worth the price? That depends on your bank account. But does it smell incredible? Absolutely.

What Does Stellar Times Smell Like?

First spray and you're hit with this luminous, almost celestial oud. It's not that dark, smoky, barnyard oud you get from Middle Eastern fragrances. This is oud that's been polished, refined, and wrapped in cashmere. Think of it as oud wearing a tuxedo.

The opening has a subtle sparkle — there's a citrusy brightness mixed with spices that gives it this almost effervescent quality. It's like staring at the night sky and seeing something shimmer. Within about 15 minutes, the heart kicks in and you get this gorgeous blend of benzoin, osmanthus, and a creamy sandalwood base that just envelops you.

The dry down is where the magic happens. It becomes this warm, resinous, slightly sweet amber-oud combo that sits close to the skin and just radiates luxury. People will get close to you and ask "what are you wearing?" — not because it's loud, but because it's magnetic.

Performance — How Long Does It Last?

This is an extrait, and it performs like one. You're getting 10-12 hours easily, with the scent morphing throughout. Projection is moderate — it's not going to fill a room from across the building, but within conversational distance, people absolutely notice it. Sillage is a solid arm's length for the first 4-5 hours before it settles into an intimate skin scent.

Two sprays is genuinely all you need. Maybe three if you want a little extra presence. Don't overspray this — it's concentrated and meant to be discovered, not announced.

When Should You Wear This?

This is an evening and special occasion fragrance, full stop. Date nights, upscale dinners, events where you want to feel like a million bucks (well, a thousand bucks). It also works surprisingly well in cooler weather — fall and winter bring out the warmth and depth of the oud and benzoin.

Could you wear it to work? Technically yes, but it feels like wearing a tuxedo to a Zoom call. Save it for moments that matter.

The Downsides — Let's Be Honest

The obvious one is the price. There's no way around it — this is a luxury fragrance priced at a luxury level, and not everyone is going to be able to justify that. If you're spending this kind of money, you need to be sure it resonates with you.

Second, the projection could be better for the price point. Some people buying at this level expect nuclear performance, and Stellar Times is more of a close-range seducer than a room-filler. If you want loud, look elsewhere.

Third — availability. Louis Vuitton fragrances aren't always easy to get, and you can't exactly walk into a Sephora and test this. You're either going to an LV boutique or trusting your nose blindly.

Buy or Skip?

If you have the budget and you appreciate refined, high-quality oud fragrances that don't smell like anything else on the market — buy. This is one of those fragrances that genuinely feels special every time you spray it. It's not a daily driver and it's not meant to be. It's the fragrance equivalent of a limited edition watch.

If you're on a budget or you want something loud and attention-grabbing, skip it. There are plenty of great oud fragrances at a fraction of the price that'll scratch a similar itch.

Rating: 8.5/10

Stellar Times delivers on the promise of luxury. The scent is unique, the quality is undeniable, and it makes you feel like you're wearing something truly special. The price and moderate projection are the only things keeping it from a 9+.
