Rayhaan Lion EDP Review — The Budget Beast That Smells Way More Expensive

What Does Rayhaan Lion EDP Smell Like?

Rayhaan has been quietly putting out some solid budget fragrances, and Lion EDP might be their most aggressive release yet. This thing opens with a loud, sweet-spicy blast — think amber, oud-style woods, and a sweetness that borders on gourmand without fully going there.

The opening is bold. Like, BOLD. You get this rich, resinous amber mixed with what smells like a synthetic but pleasant oud note and some warm spices. It's the kind of opening that makes people in the room turn their heads — for better or worse depending on how many sprays you used.

As it dries down, the sweetness gets dialed back and you're left with this smooth, woody-ambery base that actually has some nuance to it. There's a subtle vanilla in there, some musk, and a hint of something leathery that keeps it from being one-dimensional.

Performance — How Does It Wear?

  • Longevity: 8-10+ hours easy. This thing is a beast.
  • Projection: Strong for the first 3-4 hours, then moderate
  • Sillage: Heavy. People WILL smell you coming.

For what you're paying, the performance is honestly ridiculous. This hangs with fragrances that cost 3-4 times as much in the longevity department. You could spray this in the morning and still catch whiffs at dinner.

When to Wear Rayhaan Lion

This is a cold weather fragrance through and through. Don't even think about wearing this in July unless you want to clear out a room.

  • Fall and winter nights — this is where Lion thrives
  • Going out to clubs or lounges
  • Date nights where you want to make an impression
  • Any time you want to smell rich without spending rich

Keep this away from the office. It's too loud, too sweet, and too "look at me" for professional settings. This is strictly an evening and going-out scent.

The Honest Downsides

  • The opening can be overwhelming. Go easy on the sprays (2-3 max) or you'll gas people out. The first 30 minutes are LOUD.
  • It smells synthetic up close. There's no getting around it — when you put your nose right on the skin, you can tell this isn't using top-shelf ingredients. From a normal distance? Smells great. Up close? You notice the difference.
  • Not very original. If you've smelled other Middle Eastern-inspired sweet amber fragrances, Lion is playing in the same sandbox. It doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
  • The bottle and presentation feel cheap. The juice punches up, but the packaging reminds you of the price point.

Buy or Skip?

Buy if: You want a loud, long-lasting cold weather fragrance without dropping $100+. You like sweet, ambery, oud-style scents. You want something that gets noticed.

Skip if: You prefer subtle, skin-scent type fragrances. You have a sensitive nose for synthetic ingredients. You already own Lattafa or Armaf alternatives in this same sweet-amber lane.

Rating: 7/10

Rayhaan Lion delivers where it counts — it smells good, lasts forever, and costs next to nothing. The synthetic quality and lack of originality hold it back from being truly great, but as a budget pickup? It's a solid winner. Just don't overspray.
