Rhapsody Extrait de Parfum by Louis Vuitton Review — The Jasmine Bomb Worth the Splurge?

Rhapsody Extrait de Parfum by Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Rhapsody is one of those fragrances that people in the fragrance community whisper about. It's from their Les Extraits line — the top shelf of an already expensive house. So is it actually worth the hype and the price tag? Let's get into it.

What Does Rhapsody Smell Like?

Right off the top, Rhapsody hits you with this massive, creamy jasmine. But it's not your grandma's jasmine — there's a brightness to it, almost like someone took jasmine absolute and blended it with fresh cream and a squeeze of lemon. It's rich but not heavy, which is pretty impressive.

In the heart, you start picking up on tubular notes — tuberose specifically — that give it this almost narcotic sweetness. There's also a really subtle green note underneath that keeps the whole thing from becoming a headache-inducing white floral bomb.

The dry down is where Rhapsody really earns its name. It becomes this smooth, musky, slightly woody skin scent that just hums on your skin for hours. The jasmine never fully leaves — it just gets quieter and more personal. It genuinely feels like a musical piece that builds and resolves.

Performance — Does the Extrait Deliver?

  • Longevity: 12+ hours, no question. I've caught whiffs of this on my jacket the next day.
  • Sillage: Moderate to strong for the first 3-4 hours, then it becomes a close-range scent.
  • Projection: Really good opening projection that naturally settles. Exactly what you want from an Extrait.

Performance is top tier. You're not going to have any "where did my fragrance go?" moments with Rhapsody.

When to Wear Rhapsody

This is a year-round fragrance, but it shines brightest in spring and summer. The jasmine really opens up in warm weather. Best occasions:

  • Fancy dinners where you want to smell expensive
  • Weddings (you'll get asked what you're wearing, guaranteed)
  • Date nights — this has serious romantic energy
  • Any time you want to feel like the main character

It's unisex leaning slightly feminine, but honestly anyone with confidence can pull this off. I've smelled it on guys and it works incredibly well.

The Honest Downsides

  • Price is eye-watering. Let's not dance around it — this is one of the most expensive designer fragrances you can buy. At this price point, you could get multiple bottles of incredible niche jasmine fragrances.
  • Jasmine-heavy scents aren't for everyone. If you don't love jasmine, Rhapsody will not convert you. It doubles down on what it is.
  • The bottle is understated. For the money, some people expect a jaw-dropping presentation. LV bottles are clean and minimal, which feels anticlimactic when you're spending this much.
  • You WILL overspray. Because it's so pleasant, you'll want to keep spraying. Two sprays is all you need. Trust me.

Buy or Skip?

If you love white florals and jasmine in particular, Rhapsody is genuinely one of the best jasmine fragrances on the market. Period. The quality of the raw materials is obvious from the first spray — this doesn't smell like any other jasmine fragrance you've tried.

But you need to be honest with yourself: are you paying for the scent or the LV logo? Because there are jasmine-forward fragrances from houses like Dior (Jasmin des Anges) or niche brands that come close for way less money.

That said, Rhapsody has a magic to it that's hard to replicate. If you have the budget and jasmine is your thing, you won't regret this one.

Rating: 8/10

Genuinely gorgeous jasmine composition with incredible performance. Loses points only for the extreme price and the fact that it's a one-dimensional scent profile — jasmine all day, every day. But what it does, it does at an elite level.
