Versace already has one of the most successful fragrance lines in the game with Eros. The original EDT is basically the unofficial fragrance of every club and gym bro on the planet. Then came Flame, then the Parfum, and now... Eros Energy. Because apparently the Greek god of love needed a pre-workout.
Jokes aside, Eros Energy takes the familiar Eros DNA and tries to make it fresher and more energetic. The question is whether the world actually needed another Eros flanker, and whether this one carves out its own space.
What Does Versace Eros Energy Smell Like?
Forget what you know about the original Eros. Energy takes a sharp left turn from the mint-vanilla-tonka formula that made Eros famous. The opening is a blast of citrus — yuzu, grapefruit, and lemon all competing for your attention. It is zingy and bright in a way that no other Eros has been.
There is a ginger note here that adds a spicy kick to the citrus, giving it this fizzy, almost energy drink quality. And yeah, I get why they called it Energy. It genuinely smells like someone turned the brightness up on a fragrance and added a Red Bull.
The heart has some subtle aquatic notes and a touch of mint, nodding to the original Eros without copying it. There is a clean, almost metallic freshness here that feels modern. Some people get a slight pineapple vibe, which adds a tropical dimension.
The dry down is lighter than you would expect from an Eros. Some mild woods, a hint of musk, and a subtle sweetness that is way more restrained than the original. It does not have the heavy vanilla-tonka base of the OG Eros — this is leaner and cleaner.
Performance — How Long Does It Last?
This is where Energy takes a hit compared to its siblings. You are looking at 5-6 hours on average, with moderate projection for the first 2-3 hours. After that, it becomes a skin scent fairly quickly.
For an EDT, this is acceptable. But when you compare it to the original Eros EDT which could last 8+ hours and project like crazy, Energy feels like a step down in the performance department. The lighter, fresher composition just does not have the same staying power as the heavier originals.
You will probably need to reapply if you are wearing this for an all-day event. Bring a travel spray.
When Should You Wear It?
Summer. All day, every day. This is a warm weather fragrance through and through, and it fills a gap in the Eros lineup that was missing. The original Eros in summer can be suffocating — Energy is the solution to that problem.
Daytime activities, gym, casual outings, outdoor events, beach days — this is your active lifestyle Eros. It is meant to be worn when you are moving and doing things, not sitting in a dark club.
Not great for formal occasions or cold weather. It does not have the depth or projection for winter, and it feels too casual for dressy events.
The Honest Downsides
- Weak longevity: For an Eros fragrance, 5-6 hours feels disappointing. The original set a high bar for performance and Energy does not clear it.
- Feels generic: Strip away the Eros branding and this could be any fresh citrus designer fragrance. It lacks the distinctive character that made the original iconic.
- Not really an Eros: Loyal Eros fans might feel disconnected from this. It shares a name but the actual scent profile is quite different from anything else in the line.
- Pricing for what you get: At the Eros price point, there are fresh fragrances that last longer and project better. You are paying for the Versace name here.
Buy or Skip?
If you love the Eros brand but need something you can wear in summer without melting people around you, Energy fills that specific niche. It is pleasant, inoffensive, and easy to wear in the heat.
But if you are looking for the impact and performance that made Eros famous? This is not it. This is Eros on decaf. Not bad, just... quieter than you might want.
Rating: 6.5/10
A decent fresh summer option that trades the Eros identity for versatility. Not bad by any means, but not memorable either. The weakest Eros flanker so far.
