Carolina Herrera really said "let us make Good Girl but sweeter" and somehow it worked. Very Good Girl comes in that same iconic heel-shaped bottle but in pink, and inside is a lychee-rose bomb that has become a massive crowd-pleaser. But does it actually stand on its own or is it just riding the Good Girl wave?
What Does Very Good Girl Smell Like?
The opening is an absolute burst of lychee. Like, aggressively lychee. If you have ever had a lychee martini, that is the vibe for the first 10 minutes. It is sweet, fruity, and immediately attention-grabbing. There is a slight berry quality alongside it that adds some depth.
The heart is where the rose comes in, and it blends with the lingering lychee in a way that creates this sweet-floral cocktail. It is not a classic rose by any means — it is a modern, almost candied rose that leans heavily into the fruity-gourmand space. There is a bit of vetiver in the background trying to keep things grounded.
The dry down settles into vanilla and musk with that rose still present. It becomes a warm, sweet, very feminine scent that sits close to the skin. The whole thing is unapologetically sweet and girly — there is zero androgyny happening here.
How Does It Perform?
Longevity is good — 7-8 hours on skin, which is solid for an EDP in this category. Projection is moderate to strong for the first 2-3 hours. You WILL get noticed. After that, it pulls in closer but remains detectable by people near you.
Three to four sprays is the sweet spot. One on each wrist, one or two on the neck. Because it is quite sweet, overspreading is easy to do and hard to fix — go lighter than you think.
When Should You Reach for Very Good Girl?
This is a going-out fragrance. Night outs, parties, dates, drinks with friends — Very Good Girl thrives in social settings where you want to smell fun and flirty. Spring and fall are the best seasons since the sweetness can become cloying in extreme heat.
It also works for casual daytime wear in cooler weather, but I would tone it down to two sprays. This is not an office fragrance in most environments — it is too sweet and playful for corporate settings.
The Real Downsides
It is SWEET. Like, really sweet. If you are sensitive to gourmand fragrances or prefer anything on the fresh, clean, or woody spectrum, Very Good Girl will be too much. This is a polarizing sweetness that some people will find headache-inducing.
The lychee opening, while fun, can smell a bit synthetic to some noses. It is very much a designer interpretation of lychee rather than a natural fruit note.
Also, originality is not its strong suit. The lychee-rose combo has been done before, and Very Good Girl does not really bring anything new to the table. It does it well, but it is not breaking new ground.
Finally, the bottle — love it or hate it. The pink stiletto heel is fun but takes up a lot of space and is not exactly subtle on your dresser. Some people love the aesthetics, others find it gimmicky.
Buy or Skip?
Buy if you love sweet, fruity-floral fragrances and want something fun and flirty for nights out. If Good Girl was too dark for you, Very Good Girl is the lighter, sweeter alternative that still turns heads. The performance-to-price ratio is also solid.
Skip if sweetness is not your thing or if you are looking for versatility. This is a one-dimensional fragrance and it owns that lane, but if you need something you can wear everywhere, this is not it.
Rating: 7/10
Very Good Girl knows exactly what it is and executes it well. It is sweet, fun, and gets compliments like crazy. It is not going to win any awards for complexity or originality, but as a going-out fragrance that makes you smell irresistible, it delivers. Just know what you are signing up for — this is pure sugar and roses.
